بِسْمِ اللَّهِ

Bismillah

In the name of Allah.

After eating

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنِي هَذَا وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ

Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi at'amani hadha, wa razaqanihi, min ghayri hawlin minni wa la quwwah

Praise be to Allah who fed me this and provided it for me, with no might or power of my own.

😴 Before sleeping / after waking

Before sleeping

بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا

Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya

In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.

After waking

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana wa ilayhin-nushur

Praise be to Allah who gave us life after causing us to die, and unto Him is the resurrection.

Sahih al-Bukhari

🚽 Entering / leaving the bathroom

Entering

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubthi wal-khaba'ith

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from male and female devils.

Sahih al-Bukhari, Muslim

I ask You for Your forgiveness.

🏠 Entering / leaving the home

Entering

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَلَجْنَا، وَبِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَرَجْنَا، وَعَلَى رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا

Bismillahi walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'ala Rabbina tawakkalna

In the name of Allah we enter, in the name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord we place our trust.

Leaving

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ

Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah

In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no power nor strength except with Allah.

🚗 Traveling / riding a vehicle

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ

Subhanal-ladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin, wa inna ila Rabbina lamunqalibun

Glory to the One who has placed this at our service, for we ourselves could never have done so, and to our Lord we will surely return.

Qur'an 43:13–14

🕌 Entering / leaving the mosque

Entering

اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

Allahumma-ftah li abwaba rahmatik

O Allah, open the gates of Your mercy for me.

Muslim

Leaving

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik

O Allah, I ask You from Your bounty.

👕 Putting on new clothes

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ

Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi kasani hadha, wa razaqanihi min ghayri hawlin minni wa la quwwah

Praise be to Allah who has clothed me with this and provided it for me, with no might or power of my own.

🌧️ When it rains

اللَّهُمَّ صَيِّبًا نَافِعًا

Allahumma sayyiban nafi'an

O Allah, (let it be) a beneficial rain cloud.

Sahih al-Bukhari

🤲 Asking for forgiveness

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيَّ الْقَيُّومَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ

Astaghfirullah alladhi la ilaha illa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyumu wa atubu ilayh

I seek the forgiveness of Allah, besides whom there is no god, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer, and I turn to Him in repentance.

😟 Anxiety, sadness or difficulty

حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ

Hasbiyallahu la ilaha illa Huwa, 'alayhi tawakkaltu wa Huwa Rabbul-'Arshil-'Azim

Allah is sufficient for me. There is no god but Him. In Him I place my trust, and He is Lord of the Mighty Throne.

Qur'an 9:129

🤒 Visiting someone who is sick

أَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ أَنْ يَشْفِيَكَ

As'alullahal-'Adhima Rabbal-'Arshil-'Adhimi an yashfiyak

I ask Allah the Mighty, Lord of the Mighty Throne, to heal you.

Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi (said seven times)

💍 Marriage

بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ وَبَارَكَ عَلَيْكَ وَجَمَعَ بَيْنَكُمَا فِي خَيْرٍ

Barak Allahu laka, wa baraka 'alayka, wa jama'a baynakuma fi khayr

May Allah bless you, shower His blessings upon you, and join the two of you in goodness.

Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi

👶 For children

أُعِيذُكُمَا بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ

U'idhukuma bikalimatillahit-tammati min kulli shaytanin wa hammah, wa min kulli 'aynin lammah

I seek refuge for you both in the perfect words of Allah, from every devil and poisonous creature, and from every harmful, envious eye.

Sahih al-Bukhari

🌙 Breaking the fast

ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ وَثَبَتَ الْأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ

Dhahabaz-zama'u wabtallatil-'uruqu, wa thabatal-ajru in sha Allah

The thirst is gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills.

🌅 Morning and evening adhkar

Morning

أَصْبَحْنَا وَأَصْبَحَ الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ

Asbahna wa asbahal-mulku lillah, walhamdu lillah

We have entered the morning, and the whole kingdom belongs to Allah, and praise be to Allah.

Muslim

Evening

أَمْسَيْنَا وَأَمْسَى الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ

Amsayna wa amsal-mulku lillah, walhamdu lillah

We have entered the evening, and the whole kingdom belongs to Allah, and praise be to Allah.

Muslim

🧭 Starting a journey

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ

Allahumma antas-sahibu fis-safari wal-khalifatu fil-ahl

O Allah, You are the Companion on the journey, and the Guardian of the family left behind.

رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا

Rabbi zidni 'ilma

My Lord, increase me in knowledge.

Qur'an 20:114

💰 Asking for provision

اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

Allahummak-fini bihalalika 'an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak

O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful instead of what You have forbidden, and make me independent of all besides You.

Tirmidhi

🛡️ Protection from harm

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

Bismillahil-ladhi la yadhurru ma'as-mihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa Huwas-Sami'ul-'Alim

In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

⚰️ Visiting graves

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الدِّيَارِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُسْلِمِينَ، وَإِنَّا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ بِكُمْ لَاحِقُونَ، نَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ لَنَا وَلَكُمُ الْعَافِيَةَ

Assalamu 'alaykum ahlad-diyari minal-mu'minina wal-muslimin, wa inna in sha Allahu bikum lahiqun, nas'alullaha lana wa lakumul-'afiyah

Peace be upon you, inhabitants of these graves, among the believers and Muslims. We will, Allah willing, join you. We ask Allah for well-being for us and for you.

🕋 Hajj / Umrah (the Talbiyah)

لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ، لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ، إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالْمُلْكَ، لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ

Labbayk Allahumma labbayk, labbayka la sharika laka labbayk, innal-hamda wan-ni'mata laka wal-mulk, la sharika lak

Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Verily all praise, grace and dominion are Yours. You have no partner.
